The B&B Torri di Veglia is located at the foot of the Alpe Veglia natural park, a wonderful unspoiled mountain location completely surrounded by nature.
Located at the head of the Cairasca valley, Alpe Veglia is a beautiful basin of glacial origin, shaped over the millennia by the action of water, wind and ice. All this makes it assume its current uncontaminated aspect and surrounded by larch woods, high peaks, glaciers, and populated by numerous animal species.
The plain is dominated by mountains of over 3000 meters, which reach their maximum height with Monte Leone (3553 m), the highest peak in the Lepontine Alps.

Today Alpe Veglia is a renowned summer tourist place where you can take a simple walk or go hiking, climbing to discover unique landscapes in close contact with flora, fauna and silence.

At one time, however, it was inhabited only by hunters and cattle breeders who went there in the summer to procure supplies. Archaeological findings, recent, testify to the presence of man in the Alps since prehistoric times.
In the summer months, still today as usual, the cattle are brought to the green pastures of the park and the milk produced is processed and treated by the cheesemakers according to the most ancient traditions giving life to genuine natural products such as cheese, butter and ricotta.

From San Domenico and Varzo you can reach the natural park by the dirt road that descends from San Domenico to Ponte Campo - Nembro and then climbs the narrow initial gorge of the Cairasca stream on the left.

This route can only be used for about six months a year as landslides, snow and ice make it inaccessible and dangerous during the winter months.

A sort of natural defense for the park to remain protected for part of the year.

In short, to discover and appreciate the many beauties one can only visit the Alpe Veglia also because photos and words do not make the idea enough.
